On Tuesday 9 June 2020, Luxembourg's Minister of Mobility François Bausch visited Clervaux to discuss the creation of cycle paths to connect the Vennbahn to the municipalities of Clervaux and Kiischpelt.

At the invitation of the Tourist Center Clervaux asbl., Minister François Bausch travelled north to meet the mayors of the municipalities of Clervaux and Kiischpelt, Emile Eicher and Yves Kaiser.

Taking into account the growing enthusiasm for cycling in Luxembourg, the municipalities of Clervaux and Kiischpelt are using this as an opportunity to increase their mobility and attract new tourists. Since its creation in 2013, the Vennbahn, a cycling route stretching nearly 125km that connects Aachen to Troisvierges, has been a real success, boosting local economies wherever it goes.

Together, the small delegation went to Enscherange (Kiischpelt) on Tuesday to the site of the country's oldest water mill, the Rackèsmillen, which is still in operation. A future project will allow travellers and locals to find an inn with local flavours while staying overnight. The official Clervaux campsite could also benefit from the crowds created by the new cycle paths. All parties have thus agreed to speed up the procedures for connecting the territories concerned to the Luxembourg bicycle network and the Vennbahn.

During the final visit of the Robbesscheier, Minister François Bausch was able to observe the means implemented by the site managers to make this nature centre a model of sustainable tourism development in the country. All these efforts for nature-friendly tourism in the Éislek will become more attractive with the improvement of the supply of cycle paths.
