Monday marked the launch of the new trip planning mobile application for Adapto, a transport service for disabled persons in Luxembourg.

As part of the reform of Adapto, Luxembourg's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mobility and Public Works, François Bausch, had previously announced that new beneficiaries of the service would be able to manage their journeys through a single, centralised booking platform. In the launch phase, service users could already consult their reservations on the Adapto application for smartphones.

Now, from Monday 16 March 2020, each Adapto customer in possession of a new Adapto card (and therefore already registered in this new platform) can book and cancel their journeys themselves with the mobile application. The app is available free of charge in three languages (English, French and German) for Android (Google Play) and IOS (App Store).

The app is accessible to deaf / hard of hearing and mute people (reservation via application, information is given via simple texts), as well as to the visually impaired by the choice of colours and contrasts (eg for colour blindness and other visual impairments) and to the blind by means of a screen reader. It will soon work in compliance with the rules for the accessibility of Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG) at level AA.

More specifically, the mobile application allows customers to activate and connect to their account (authentication by email address and password), book transport up to two months in advance, follow their mode of transport in real time and thus know the precise arrival details and receive push notifications. Users who have already downloaded the application are asked to update it.
