On Tuesday 1 February 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 1,453 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 953 fatalities (one new death since Monday) resulting from the virus to date.
1,453 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Tuesday from a total of 4,327 tests carried out the day before, representing 228.92 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 33.61%. Wednesday 26 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 3,073 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 2093.86.
A total of 81 people are in hospital with the virus, including nine patients in intensive care.
There are currently 31,673 active infections known, whilst a total of 126,812 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.95.
A total of 1,229,701 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (475,326 first doses, 418,291 second doses, 336,084 additional doses). A total of 459,724 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 340.82; for vaccinated individuals, this was 182.52. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
