
On Monday 31 January 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 134 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 952 fatalities (four new deaths over the weekend) resulting from the virus to date.
134 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Monday from a total of 719 tests carried out the day before, representing 21.11 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 18.66%. Wednesday 26 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 3,073 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 2131.14.
A total of 79 people are in hospital with the virus, including eight patients in intensive care.
There are currently 30,762 active infections known, whilst a total of 126,271 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.88.
A total of 1,227,674 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (475,202 first doses, 417,931 second doses, 334,541 additional doses). A total of 459,360 people are now fully vaccinated.
The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 35.95; for vaccinated individuals, this was 14.94. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
