On Friday 28 January 2022, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 2,552 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 948 fatalities (one new death since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.

2,552 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 6,880 tests carried out the day before, representing 402.06 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 37.11%. Wednesday 26 January 2022 marked the record daily high of 3,073 new cases.

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 2266.43. 

A total of 71 people are in hospital with the virus, including ten patients in intensive care. 

There are currently 32,196 active infections known, whilst a total of 120,291 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproduction rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.01.

A total of 1,220,069 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (474,756 first doses, 417,406 second doses, 327,907 additional doses). A total of 458,824 people are now fully vaccinated.

The incidence rate (per 100,000 inhabitants) for unvaccinated individuals was 598.00; for vaccinated individuals, this was 320.25. These figures only take into consideration people who returned a positive PCR test.
