Luxembourg's Ministry of State and the Ministry of Health have announced the introduction of a new voucher scheme offering free PCR tests to residents who have received a first dose of a vaccine against COVID-19 before the entry into force of the new COVID-19 law.

Following the recommendations of the Council of State concerning the new CovidCheck regime which will come into force on 1 November 2021, the government has decided to make available free COVID-19 PCR tests to anyone who has received a first vaccine dose before 18 October 2021, i.e. the date of entry of the new COVID-19 law.

The decision is intended to allow people who have decided to get vaccinated (i.e. partially vaccinated) to get tested free of charge during the transition phase before the administration of their second vaccine dose.

Those concerned will receive five personalised test vouchers from 1 November. The vouchers can be redeemed in all accredited medical biology analysis laboratories in Luxembourg (BioNext, Ketterthill, Laboratoires Réunis).

UPDATE: the Ministry of State and the Ministry of Health have since confirmed that free PCR testing will be made available for those who received a first vaccine dose before 1 November 2021.
