On Wednesday 25 August 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 96 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 830 fatalities (no new deaths since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.
96 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 4,121 tests carried out the day before, representing 15.12 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 2.33%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 45.71.
A total of 22 people are in hospital with the virus, including five patients in intensive care.
As per figures from Tuesday 24 August 2021, there are currently 795 active infections known, whilst a total of 73,687 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 1.08.
A total of 756,276 vaccinations have been carried out in Luxembourg to date (404,063 first doses, 352,213 second doses); 644 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 680 received their second dose on Tuesday. A total of 387,266 people are now fully vaccinated.
The Health Ministry no longer communicates data relating to COVID-19 on weekends.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
