On Friday 28 May 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 81 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 814 fatalities (one new death since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.
81 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 9,425 tests carried out the day before, representing 12.76 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 0.86%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 46.14.
A total of 32 people are in hospital with the virus, including twelve patients in intensive care.
As per figures from Thursday 27 May 2021, there are currently 1,023 active infections known, whilst a total of 67,993 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.73.
As of Thursday, a total of 334,766 vaccinations had been carried out in Luxembourg (225,549 first doses, 105,235 second doses); 1,395 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 3,981 received their second dose on Thursday.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
