On Thursday 6 May 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 162 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 801 fatalities (one new death since Wednesday) resulting from the virus to date.
162 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Thursday from a total of 8,667 tests carried out the day before, representing 25.52 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 1.87%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 120.57. The lowest (since the most recent wave started mid-October) was 113.00 on 19 January.
A total of 86 people are in hospital with the virus, including 33 patients in intensive care.
As per figures from Wednesday 5 May 2021, there are currently 2,492 active infections known, whilst a total of 64,727 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.84.
As of Wednesday, a total of 220,251 vaccinations had been carried out in Luxembourg (160,427 first doses, 59,824 second doses); 4,529 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 2,484 received their second dose on Wednesday.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
