On Wednesday 5 May 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 179 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 800 fatalities (no new deaths since Tuesday) resulting from the virus to date.
179 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Wednesday from a total of 9,435 tests carried out the day before, representing 28.20 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 1.90%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases.
The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 127.57. The lowest (since the most recent wave started mid-October) was 113.00 on 19 January.
A total of 88 people are in hospital with the virus, including 34 patients in intensive care.
As per figures from Tuesday 4 May 2021, there are currently 2,607 active infections known, whilst a total of 64,443 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.89.
As of Tuesday, a total of 213,236 vaccinations had been carried out in Luxembourg (155,897 first doses, 57,339 second doses); 3,749 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 2,782 received their second dose on Tuesday.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
