On Friday 16 April 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 197 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 785 fatalities (no new deaths since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.

197 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 9,172 tests carried out the day before, representing 31.46 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 2.15%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases. 

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 153.57. The lowest (since the most recent wave started mid-October) was 113.00 on 19 January.

A total of 110 people are in hospital with the virus, including 32 patients (with one coming from the Grand Est in France) in intensive care. 

As per figures from Thursday 15 April 2021, there are currently 3,334 active infections known, whilst a total of 60,627 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.90.

As of Thursday, a total of 153,420 vaccinations had been carried out in Luxembourg (110,434 first doses, 42,986 second doses); 3,271 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 2,634 received their second dose on Thursday.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
