On Friday 9 April 2021, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 287 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections; there have been 763 fatalities (one new death since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date.

287 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 11,485 tests carried out the day before, representing 45.84 people per 100,000 inhabitants. The positivity rate was 2.50%. Wednesday 18 November 2020 marked the record daily high of 891 new cases. 

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) is currently 165.43. The lowest (since the most recent wave started mid-October) was 113.00 on 19 January.

A total of 131 people are in hospital with the virus, including 30 patients (with one coming from the Grand Est in France) in intensive care. 

As per figures from Thursday 8 April 2021, there are currently 3,536 active infections known, whilst a total of 59,168 people have recovered from the virus to date. The effective reproductive rate in Luxembourg stands at 0.93.

As of Thursday, a total of 121,953 vaccinations had been carried out in Luxembourg (91,074 first doses, 30,879 second doses); 2,361 individuals received their first dose of the vaccine and 2,460 received their second dose on Thursday.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
