Luxembourg's Ministry of Health has announced that the new COVID-19 Consultation Centre (CCC) will open its doors tomorrow, Tuesday 27 October 2020, at 10:00.
In order to relieve the emergency services as coronavirus cases continue to rise, Luxembourg is set to open its first CCC, located in the enclosure of the former annex of the National Library (BnL) in Luxembourg-Kirchberg. The sampling centre currently installed on this locasion will be closed from 17:00 this evening.
The centre is open to anyone showing symptoms of COVID-19 and those having tested positve for the virus, whether or not they have social security coverage. Consultation is free, although patients will be requested to present ID and, for those who have one, their social security card upon arrival.
Children under the age of six cannot be cared for in the CCC. Instead, they should receive treatment from their paediatrician or general practitioner (GP) or in another hospital structure in the event of an emergency, particularly at the CHL Kannerklinik. COVID-19 tests on children under two can be carried out at the Kannerklink by online appointment; tests on older children are carried out by private laboratories (and Picken Doheem).
The ministry confirmed that the CCC has basic medical equipment that allows outpatient care of people suspected of having contracted the virus as well as those having been diagnosed with the virus. Nasopharyngeal PCR COVID samples can be taken directly on site. People who already have a medical prescription for a PCR test will need to go to a private lab to get tested.
On site, a doctor will ensure the clinical examination of patients for the duration of the opening of the CCC. He / she will be assisted by other health professionals. One team is involved in collecting administrative information and another is in place to take care of logistics.
This first CCC is located at 31 Boulevard Konrad Adenauer, L-1115 Luxembourg-Kirchberg and is open seven days a week, from 10:00 to 17:00.
A second CCC may open in the south of the country if needed.
