On Friday 23 October 2020, Luxembourg's Ministry of Health reported 516 new COVID-19 (coronavirus) infections yesterday; there have been 141 fatalities (one more fatality since Thursday) resulting from the virus to date, representing 82.41 per 100,000 inhabitants.

516 Luxembourg residents tested positive on Friday from a total of 8,936 tests carried out the day before. Yesterday marked the record high of daily cases with 595 new cases.

The average daily increase (over a 7-day period) in cases is now 326.57. 

As of Friday 23 October 2020, 86 people were in hospital with the virus, including ten patients in intensive care. There were 3,563 active infections known, whilst a total of 8,474 people have recovered from the virus. 

The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg is currently 1.52.

Since 24 August 2020, the Ministry of Health's published figures only include resident infection numbers, as opposed to earlier figures which included both residents and non-residents (i.e. cross-border workers).
