The number of people having tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus) in Luxembourg stands at 6,272 (up 83 from Saturday; 74 residents and 9 non-residents), including 112 fatalities (unchanged) resulting from the virus, as of early evening on Sunday 26 July 2020.
While there has just been two COVID-19 fatalities in Luxembourg since 24 May, the average daily increase (over a 7-day period) in cases is now 96.71 since restrictions have started to be eased.
From Friday's figures (statistical breakdown not released daily from 27 June):
- Of those people having tested positive for coronavirus to date, 6,272 are residents and 1,150 are non-residents. The average age of those testing positive is 43, with the ratio of men to women being 52% / 48%, while the median age of the victims who lost their lives to the virus is 85 (average age: 84).
- Since the beginning of the crisis, Luxembourg has carried out 399,477 tests, including 321,989 on residents and 77,488 on non-residents; currently there are 1,298 people known to be infected while 4,647 have reportedly recovered from COVID-19. The effective reproductive number in Luxembourg is currently 1.01.
- The number of people currently hospitalised with COVID-19 is 51, with three patients in intensive care. 1,012 individuals have been discharged from hospital (including certain short-term stays).
