The number of people having tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus) in Luxembourg stands at 3,877 (up six from Friday), including 101 fatalities (up one from Friday) resulting from the virus, as of early evening on Saturday 9 May 2020.
Of those people having tested positive for coronavirus to date, 3,139 are residents and 738 are non-residents. The average age of those testing positive is 46, with the ratio of men to women being 51.17% / 48.83%, while the median age of the victims (excluding one patient from the Grand Est) who lost their lives to the virus is 84.5 (average age: 83). The number of people hospitalised with COVID-19 is 102; this figure includes 15 patients (excluding those transferred from the Grand Est) in intensive care. Nevertheless, 874 have been discharged from hospital. The reproduction rate (Rt) of the virus stands at 0.995.
Since the beginning of the crisis, Luxembourg has carried out a total of 54,463 tests (42,925 on residents, 11,538 on non-residents); currently there are 226 people known to be infected while 3,550 have reportedly recovered from COVID-19. From mid-May, Luxembourg's authorities plan to ramp up testing to 20,000 tests per day in an effort to test the entire population within one month.
