Fondation Cancer are promoting Movember, where some men grow a moustache throughout the month of November, in an attempt to raise awareness of testicular cancer.
Fondation Cancer are using the topic of Movember to inform the public of the signs and risks of testicular cancer among men. Testicular cancer is most common among men aged between 15 and 40. In Luxembourg, every year 20 new cases are diagnosed.
Those most at risk are men who have a history of cryptorchid testes, as well as male family members of a man suffering from the disease.
In terms of looking out for the symptoms, Fondation Cancer recommends that men examine their testicles once per month after a hot bath or shower to check for any noticeable months, a feeling of heaviness, any swelling or build-up of liquid, pain in the back or side, or, in rare cases, gynecomastia (the development of breasts in men).
