WAKO, a company specialising in the manufacture of door and window frames, has announced the inauguration of its new showroom in Differdange, set for the weekend from 8 to 9 June 2024.
The Luxembourg-created company was founded in 1930 and has experienced growth, both locally and beyond its borders. The company confirmed that it invested more than €6 million into its Rédange branch. In addition to production at the Rédange site, WAKO has around fifteen teams responsible for installing doors and windows as well as staff responsible for commercial, administrative and technical management for the Grand Ducal market. These employees operate from the Differdange site, where the company is preparing to inaugurate a new showroom.
"It is in Luxembourg that this company was born.Today, we employ 160 people there and continue to strengthen our production tools. Recently, we decided to invest in our production site in Rédange, where we employ around a hundred people specialised in the manufacture of PVC frames. We are currently carrying out an expansion project there, with the construction of a new 4,000 m2 hall and the implementation of a new production line. This project, which represents an investment of more than €6 million, will be operational in 2025," explained Olivier Legendre, CEO of WAKO.
International development
In addition to PVC frames, manufactured in Luxembourg, the group also has a production site in Suarlée in the Namur region of Belgium, where it designs aluminium frames, and a factory that will also be expanded soon, WAKO added. The Belgian market, starting with Suarlée for aluminium and Rédange for PVC, exclusively serves carpentry and construction professionals.
"Over the years, WAKO has managed to position itself on the market as one of the most important players in the sector. Today, we are recognised for the quality of our products, but also for the support offered to each customer, whether individuals or professionals, in the development of new constructions or the implementation of renovation projects," explained Olivier Legendre. “In Luxembourg, where we support many individuals and professionals, we provide a complete service, from advice, from the start of the project to installation."
A commitment to the future and the climate
WAKO doors and windows, aim to not only embellish homes but also improve their energy performance, both in winter insulation with high-performance windows and in summer insulation with solar protection. In a renovation approach, the company added it allows its customers to save money on heating and/or air conditioning while contributing to the fight against global warming. Since 2013, WAKO announced it has committed to a zero-carbon trajectory itself.
"In this approach, we work in a concerted manner with all of our partners and customers to reduce the carbon footprint linked to our activity as much as possible," continued the CEO. “Beyond that, for residual CO2 emissions, we have set up a compensation approach. For each WAKO window produced and installed, we invest in carbon sink projects, such as reforestation projects. As the trees grow, they will capture and store CO2 present in the atmosphere."
Investing in Luxembourg to continue growing
If the real estate market is going through a complicated phase, the WAKO company emphasised it continues to “invest in the future”, stressing the continued need for renovation and housing.
"...We are proud of the ‘Made in Luxembourg’ quality, which is now recognised and appreciated by our customers. In the future, we want to continue this development locally. Our new showroom in Differdange, like the development of our production site in Rédange, are evidence of this commitment," Olivier Legendre concluded.
The new WAKO showroom will welcome private individuals from Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June 2024. A day for professionals will be organised on Thursday 6 June 2024. Visitors will be able to discover a bioclimatic pergola, recently added to the range which allows the creation of airflow in outdoor spaces.
