On Friday 16 October 2026, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) reported that several change-of-command ceremonies had taken place within the organisation during October 2026, marking important transitions in the continuity of operational command.
On Thursday 8 October, Warrant Officer Philippe Jacobs officially took over command of the Junglinster Fire and Rescue Centre (CIS), succeeding Second Lieutenant Pierre Muller. On Thursday 15 October, Lieutenant Pol Wilgé succeeded Captain Yves Damy at CIS Nordstad. On Friday 16 October, CIS Mamer was officially placed under the command of Warrant Officer Antonie Van den Heuvel, replacing Warrant Officer Patrick Franck.
According to the CGDIS, these ceremonies, organised at the various centres, were marked by the symbolic handover of the unit flag between the outgoing centre chiefs and their successors. On these occasions, the officials present paid tribute to the commitment, rigour and dedication of the outgoing centre chiefs, while congratulating the new appointees on the confidence placed in them as they take up their new responsibilities.
The ceremony held in Mamer also provided an opportunity to formalise the change of command of the Central Rescue Zone (Zone de secours Centre). Lieutenant Colonel Paul Hack retired at the end of his career, and Captain Yves Damy has held the position since 1 October 2026.
The Director General of the CGDIS, Paul Schroeder, expressed his gratitude to the outgoing officials for their commitment to serving the population and wished the new chiefs every success in carrying out their duties.
The CGDIS noted that these changes of command demonstrate the continuity, stability and professionalism that characterise the organisation of emergency services in Luxembourg.
