Luxembourg's Ministry of Research and Higher Education and Ministry for Digitalisation have announced that a Luxembourg delegation will undertake a working visit to the United Kingdom (UK) from Monday 19 to Wednesday 21 October 2026, focusing on cooperation in research, higher education, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital sovereignty.

The delegation, led by Luxembourg’s Minister for Research and Higher Education and Minister for Digitalisation Stéphanie Obertin, will visit London and Cambridge. It will include representatives of both ministries, the University of Luxembourg (Uni.lu), public research centres and the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR).

During the visit, Minister Obertin will meet Baroness Smith of Malvern, the UK's Minister of State for Skills, as well as representatives of the Digital Government Service, universities and research institutions. Discussions will focus on higher education, research cooperation, digital transformation, AI, digital sovereignty, research infrastructure and scientific data.

The programme will also include visits to the Wellcome Genome Campus and the West Cambridge Data Centre (WCDC), home to the DAWN supercomputer, as well as the Cambridge Centre for Data-Driven Discovery (C2D3). The delegation will also meet representatives of the research and innovation sectors.

Minister Obertin will participate in a meeting of the international IZA@LISER research network and speak at a reception at the Luxembourg Embassy in London under the theme "Luxembourg's Digital Sovereignty: AI, Data and Research".

According to the ministry, the visit aims to strengthen relations between Luxembourg and the UK and explore further cooperation in areas of strategic importance to both countries.
