On Friday 9 and Saturday 10 October 2026, the Grand Ducal Police carried out roadside alcohol checks in Bissen, Cruchten, Steinfort and Dippach at the request of the State Prosecutor, in accordance with Article 12(3), paragraph 8, of the amended Law of 14 February 1955 governing road traffic on all public roads.
According to the police, on Friday between 22:00 and 23:00, officers carried out alcohol checks on Route de Colmar in Bissen. A total of 87 motorists were required to undergo a preliminary breath test, even where there were no obvious signs of alcohol impairment. Three drivers returned positive breath test results, and police officers issued three official reports and three on-the-spot fines. One driving licence was confiscated on the spot. Three other road traffic offences involving the use of vehicles without valid tax discs were also recorded.
On Friday between 23:45 and 00:45, police carried out alcohol checks on Rue Principale in Cruchten. A total of 30 motorists were required to undergo a preliminary breath test, even where there were no obvious signs of alcohol impairment. Four drivers returned positive breath test results, and police officers issued four official reports and four on-the-spot fines. No driving licences were confiscated on the spot.
On the same night, between 22:30 and midnight, police carried out alcohol checks on Rue de Luxembourg in Steinfort. A total of 134 motorists were required to undergo a preliminary breath test, even where there were no obvious signs of alcohol impairment. Two drivers returned positive breath test results, and police officers issued one official report and one on-the-spot fine. No driving licences were confiscated on the spot.
On Saturday between 01:00 and 02:30, police carried out alcohol checks on Route de Luxembourg in Dippach. A total of 67 motorists were required to undergo a preliminary breath test, even where there were no obvious signs of alcohol impairment. Four drivers returned positive breath test results, and police officers issued two official reports and two on-the-spot fines. No driving licences were confiscated on the spot.
