On Thursday 1 October 2026, POST Luxembourg, in collaboration with the City of Ettelbruck, launched a call for projects for the creation of two Street Art works as part of the design process for the EUROPA 2027 stamp series.
EUROPA stamps are issued by European postal administrations/operators and bear the official EUROPA logo, a registered trademark under the auspices of PostEurop A.I.S.B.L., with Europe as their central theme. Highlighting cooperation in the postal sector while promoting philately, these special stamps also raise awareness of Europe’s shared roots, culture and history, as well as its common goals. As such, EUROPA stamp issues are among the most collected and popular stamps in the world.
Competition objectives
The theme of the 2027 call is Street Art and each member country may interpret the theme in its own way while respecting the values promoted by PostEurop.
As part of this competition, POST Philately is seeking creative proposals that:
• are created in a Street Art style;
• illustrate the artist’s personal interpretation of the theme “Luxembourg, my homeland”, reflecting their own connection to Luxembourg.
The EUROPA series consists of two stamps. Each of the two selected artworks will serve as the design for one of these stamps.
Basic criteria
• You are a Street Artist and have a connection to Luxembourg (nationality, place of residence or professional activity);
• Preferably, you have not previously designed a stamp for POST Luxembourg. If you have already designed a stamp for POST Luxembourg, you may only submit a proposal in collaboration with another artist who has not yet designed a stamp for POST Luxembourg.
POST asks that any artists who meet these criteria indicate their interest by sending a confirmation email to contact.philately@post.lu.
POST emphasised that artists are free to interpret the theme in their own way, while taking into account the constraints of a small format such as that used for a postage stamp.
Each artist may submit one proposal and the project submission deadline is Monday 30 November 2026.
A national jury composed of representatives of POST Luxembourg and the City of Ettelbruck will select two designs.
Participants whose artwork is ranked between 3rd and 12th place by the jury will receive compensation of €250, provided that their stamp complies with the required specifications. The two winners will each receive a contract with POST Philately as well as compensation of €2,000.
The two winning artworks will be used for the EUROPA 2027 series. The two stamps will each be issued in 25,000 copies on 4 May 2027. Their creators will be acknowledged in the information brochure presenting the designs. The artworks may also serve as the basis for derivative products related to the stamp issue, such as First Day Covers (FDC), postcards, maximum cards and other items, as well as for promotional activities supporting the issue. The issued stamps will be entered into the annual competition organised by PostEurop to select the most beautiful EUROPA stamp of the year.
The City of Ettelbruck will provide two walls on which the winning artists (one wall per artist) will create their works in 2027. The materials required for these creations will be provided by the City of Ettelbruck.
