On Tuesday 1 February 2022, Kultur | lx - Arts Council Luxembourg announced the selection of local author Nora Wagener for this year's literary recidency in Berlin.
The Literarisches Colloquium Berlin (LCB), an internationally renowned literary institution, hosts readings, seminars and literary meetings, among other things.
The committee, made up of Claude Conter (Bibliothèque nationale du Luxembourg), Frank Hansen (Lëtzebuerger Bicherfrënn), Ludivine Jehin (Centre national de littérature), Rafael David Kohn (award winner 2021) and Christiane Krier (Lëtzebuerger Bicherfrënn), examined the four applications received and made recommendations to the LCB. The selection team at Literarisches Colloquium Berlin decided in favour of Nora Wagener.
Ms Wagener, born in 1989, Luxembourg, studied creative writing and cultural journalism at the University of Hildesheim. Winner of the Prix Servais in 2017 for her short story collection Larven (Hydre Editions, 2016), she recently published Alle meine Freunde (Éditions Guy Binsfeld, 2020) and Was habe ich verpasst (Éditions Guy Binsfeld, 2021).
The residency at the LCB is possible due to an endowment from the Lëtzebuerger Bicherfrënn - Les Amis du Livre a.s.b.l., which support the book industry. The part of the proceeds from the sale of second-hand books by the volunteers of the Lëtzebuerger Bicherfrënn will benefit the Luxembourg literary production.
The author receiving the grant shall be required to write a "Bourglënster Ried" which will be published as a booklet, in a limited edition supported and co-edited by the Centre national de littérature.
Kultur | lx – Arts Council Luxembourg was created in July 2020 as an initiative of the Luxembourg Ministry of Culture for the support, promotion and development of the Luxembourgish cultural scene.
