DLA Piper in Luxembourg recently marked the firm’s tenth anniversary and held the opening of its new office.
The event brought together 200 guests, including clients, key figures from Luxembourg’s financial and business community and international visitors.
In their speeches, Catherine Pogorzelski, senior partner and Founder of DLA Piper in Luxembourg, and Xavier Guzman, Country Managing Partner, highlighted the firm’s “remarkable journey” in the country. Simon Levine, Managing Partner of DLA Piper and Global co-CEO, along with Jon Hayes, Senior Partner and Global co-Chair, joined them on stage to reflect on the significance of DLA Piper’s presence in Luxembourg as a global legal key player.
What began as an ambitious idea with just three people in 2014 has grown into a team of over 100 dedicated professionals. The move to the new office at Place de l’Étoile marks a significant milestone, symbolising both the firm’s local commitment and heartbeat and its global vision.
“Our new office is more than just a workplace; it reflects who we are and who we aspire to be,” said Catherine Pogorzelski. “The design captures our strong local presence and embodies innovation, sustainability and a dynamic approach - values that mirror Luxembourg’s own forward-thinking spirit."
"By moving to this new office here in the heart of the city, we are highlighting not only the strength of our client base and faith in the market and also our commitment to Luxembourg and to our people who help make DLA Piper the firm it is," added Simon Levine.
Xavier Guzman, who assumed the leadership role earlier this year, spoke passionately about the firm’s future and the partnership’s ambitions. “We will continue to grow, expand and contribute to the development of the Luxembourg market, driven by strong values and with quality, diversity and innovation at the core of everything we do. In an ever more complex and fast-changing world, we are committed to connecting with our clients and the wider community, responding to the needs of their industries and staying at the forefront of the legal market.”
The celebration also highlighted DLA Piper’s role in Luxembourg’s financial ecosystem, particularly in the Investment Management and Funds sector, which Catherine now leads globally. “Funds are the engine driving Luxembourg forward, and we want to be the fuel that powers this growth, bringing our global energy together with our colleagues worldwide to support the next wave of development,” she added.
Jon Hayes added: “Luxembourg is a truly fascinating market, playing a key strategic role at the heart of many complex, cross-jurisdictional matters. What sets DLA Piper apart here is our ability to connect countries, practice groups and sectors, working seamlessly and collaboratively across borders.”
The event featured speeches and live music with a band led by Luxembourg singer Magali Dahan. Additionally, Jacques Schneider’s collaborative artwork, inspired by historic bilateral and international treaties, highlighted the foundations of Luxembourg’s strength in today’s globalised market. These elements aimed to encapsulate the spirit of Luxembourg: deeply rooted locally with a global reach, DLA Piper’s representatives added.
