Growing international law firm Fieldfisher has announced that it has made two significant hires at its recently-launched Luxembourg office.
Jean-Luc Dascotte has been appointed as a tax partner and Richard Ledain Santiago has been appointed as a corporate partner.
Jean-Luc is a tax specialist with more than 20 years' experience in Luxembourg, France and Belgium. He joins Fieldfisher from Tiberghien Luxembourg, a Brussels-based boutique tax firm where he was a managing partner, having previously headed the tax practice at Wildgen, a Luxembourg full-services firm.
Jean-Luc has a strong international client base which he advises on cross-border tax planning. He has particular experience in private equity structuring for private clients and investments funds, real estate investments and IP structuring.
He is recognised for his expertise in investment finance, including creative hybrid instruments and in supervising tax audits, tax planning projects and performing tax and legal due diligence examinations. Jean-Luc is also recognised as a tax litigator and has been instrumental in securing several landmark case-law decisions over the past few years.
He is a member of the Luxembourg and Brussels Bars and belongs to the International Fiscal Association, International Bar Association and Association Luxembourgeoise d’Etudes Fiscales. Having graduated from Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), Solvay Business School (Belgium) and UC Davis (California, USA), Jean-Luc was admitted to the Brussels Bar in 1995.
Jean-Luc has been recommended in the capacity of tax partner in several publications, including Legal 500 and the Tax Directors Handbook. He is a frequent contributor to several tax publications.

Richard Ledain Santiago joins Fieldfisher from Allen & Overy in Luxembourg, where he advised a broad range of local and international clients in connection with mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, structuring of international transactions, reorganisations (including in distressed situations), securitisation and corporate finance.
Richard also brings significant expertise in structured and asset finance, with a special focus on aircraft finance, real estate and capital market matters.
Richard holds a Ph.D. in law, a master's degree in finance and accounting and is a tri-registered solicitor in England & Wales (2011), Luxembourg (2010) and Paris (2005).

A fluent Spanish and French speaker, Richard has worked for firms in Paris and Luxembourg and was a lecturer in corporate, warranties and bankruptcy law at the University of Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne and Evry Val-d’Essonne from 2004 to 2008, and regularly publishes articles in these areas.
Fieldfisher Luxembourg now has three partners and is headed by country managing partner, Ingrid Dubourdieu.
