On Tuesday evening, Baker & McKenzie Luxembourg held a reception to celebrate their 5th anniversary in the Grand Duchy, inviting customers and partners to the Cercle Cité for an original evening event.
On this occasion, the firm has given carte blanche to five young photographers from diverse backgrounds to express their own vision of Luxembourg. The ambition of this exhibition entitled "Luxembourg OFF the wall" was to bring a new look at the Grand Duchy. To do this, Clara Chichin, Morvarid K, Igor Pisuk, Swen Renault and Milo Thoretton, coming from different backgrounds (France, Iran and Poland) have traveled the country for several days in search of inspiring and original photographic subjects.
Meanwhile, photographer Alexandre Dupeyron has also been exploring. The originality of this exhibition also reflects the fact that the works presented is specifically designed for this birthday party. This desire to work of the young Luxembourg talented photographers from different backgrounds reflects both the international DNA and the strong local roots of Baker & McKenzie Luxembourg.
The evening was also the opportunity to reflect on the life of the firm over the past five years. From the beginning, the implementation of Baker & McKenzie in Luxembourg was made possible by the unexpected encounter between an office marked by a strong entrepreneurial dimension and tax lawyers. This entrepreneurial dynamics, since its inception, has been characteristic of the firm's operating mode.
This mindset is far from a "stranger to success" encountered by Baker & McKenzie Luxembourg since its inception. From 2013, the firm has evolved: it has doubled its workforce with 45 lawyers and tax covering the main specialties of business law. In 2015, it entered a new phase: the tax department is strengthening transfer pricing with the arrival of Antonio A. Weffer, a recognised expert in this field. This enrollment growth was coupled with the recognition of the expertise of the office of the Luxembourg whose international rankings are regularly reported.
For five years, this excellence has enabled the firm to become a key player in the economic life and advise a multitude of actors, from SMEs to investment funds through large groups through operations local border mergers and acquisitions. As such, the firm, for example, advised the two German energy giants RWE and E.ON, in the selling of their stakes in Enovos to a consortium led by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
