The Ville de Luxembourg has announced that registrations for Luxembourgish language and culture courses have opened to the general public since 17 August 2020, online at the VdL website and also directly at the offices of the Integration and Specific Needs Department.

Fees are set at €50 for 55 hours of class and €100 for 110 hours. Registered job-seekers and those registered at the Luxembourg Reception Office may be eligible for a reduced course fee of €10.

For the new 2020/2021 session which will begin on 15 September 2020, precautionary measures have been put in place for the resumption of courses, including among others the "blended learning" method where 50% of the courses will be held face-to-face and 50% remotely. The programme again provides for a four-year learning cycle, spread over four levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced and conversation) and will include a few specific courses to best meet the needs of learners. Annual and semester courses, courses for German speakers as well as intensive courses during the week and during the weekend are all being offered again.

Classes are given in several districts of the city (Bonnevoie, Cents, Gare) and are accompanied by extracurricular cultural activities. They are based on the principles of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CECRL / CEFRL) developed by the Council of Europe. The Luxembourgish language and culture courses for adults provided by the Ville de Luxembourg are also approved by the Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth and also give the right to obtain a certificate bearing the label of quality under the condition of having attended at least 70% of class hours.

Please note that in order to comply with the restrictions as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of students per course is limited.
