On Thursday 20 February 2025, Luxembourg's employment agency, ADEM, reported that there were 19,431 resident jobseekers available for work at the end of January 2025; the unemployment rate dropped slightly to return to 5.8%.

The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM as of 31 January 2025 stood at 19,431, an increase of 1,114 individuals (or 6.1%) compared to January 2024.

The increase particularly affected jobseekers registered with ADEM for more than seven months, as well as jobseekers over the age of 30 and the most qualified jobseekers (university graduates). Regarding professions, the most significant increases concerned the road transport driving, culinary production, banking and accountability sectors.

The number of new resident registrations has slightly decreased. A total of 3,119 residents registered with ADEM in January 2025, marking a decrease of 28 individuals (or 0.9%) compared to January 2024.

The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefits has increased by 916 individuals (or 8.4%) year-on-year, reaching 11,837 as of 31 January 2025. The number of individuals benefiting from employment support measures stood at 4,332, unchanged from January 2024.

In January 2025, employers reported 3,426 vacant positions to ADEM, representing a 14.6% increase compared to January 2024. The total number of available positions at the end of the month was 6,545 as of 31 January 2025, marking a decrease of 6% over one year. This decrease mainly impacted the accounting, IT, banking and warehousing professions.
