On Friday 20 December 2024, Luxembourg's employment agency, ADEM, reported that there were 18,625 resident jobseekers available for work at the end of November 2024; the unemployment rate rose slightly from 5.8% to 5.9% over one month.

The number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM as of 30 November 2024 stood at 18,625, an increase of 1,186 people (or 6.8%) compared to November 2023.

This increase particularly affected jobseekers registered with ADEM for more than seven months, as well as jobseekers over the age of 30 and the most qualified jobseekers (university graduates). Regarding professions, the most significant increases concerned the road transport driving, culinary production, IT, and banking sectors.

The number of new jobseeker registrations decreased slightly: 2,664 residents registered with ADEM in November 2024, a decrease of 146 people (or 5.2%) compared to November 2023. New registrations for the month in question included 83 registrations by beneficiaries of temporary protection (i.e. refugees from Ukraine).

The number of resident jobseekers receiving full unemployment benefits increased by 1,070 people (or 11.3%) over one year, to reach 10,533 as of 30 November 2024. The number of beneficiaries of an unemployment measure stood at 4,395, an increase of 4.3% compared to November 2023.

In November 2024, employers declared 2,535 vacant positions to ADEM - similar to the volume recorded one year earlier. The total number of positions available at the end of the month stood at 6,140 - a decrease of 16.3% over one year. This decrease mainly impacted the IT, banking, and building finishing work professions.
