On Tuesday 4 June 2024, the Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Initiative (LSFI) announced the appointment of Lorenzo Avico as its Deputy CEO.

Lorenzo has over 25 years of experience in Luxembourg financial services. Prior to joining the LSFI, he was Head of Business Development at BNP Paribas Asset Management, Luxembourg, and Head of Sales at Eurizon Capital. He also worked as portfolio manager at several banks such as Edmond de Rothschild (Europe) and Intesa Sanpaolo. The LSFI added that, through his "extensive" experience in the financial sector, he has consistently been exposed to the latest developments in sustainable finance. He has also enhanced this practical knowledge through several certifications aimed at upskilling in sustainable finance.

According to the LSFI, Lorenzo will be "instrumental" in organising and defining the activities of the LSFI, working closely with CEO Nicoletta Centofanti. Leveraging his experience and expertise, he will focus on developing and implementing the Luxembourg Sustainable Finance Strategy, fostering the "unique features and strengths" of the Luxembourg financial centre. In particular, he will actively support financial sector stakeholders in advancing sustainable finance initiatives. Regularly representing the LSFI in interactions with public authorities, government bodies and professional associations, he will also contribute to establishing and coordinating thematic working groups on sustainable finance topics.

"I am honoured to take on the role of Deputy CEO at the LSFI. I have closely followed the work of this unique organisation since its foundation, and I am delighted to contribute to its mission," commented Lorenzo Avico, Deputy CEO at the LSFI. "My extensive experience in the Luxembourg financial sector has made me very familiar with the challenges it faces, as well as its potential and unique features. Luxembourg hosts key sustainable finance initiatives and has a long track record of expertise in this domain. I am committed to supporting all our stakeholders, helping them overcome those existing challenges while ensuring that we continue advancing the sustainable finance journey."

The LSFI noted that the appointment of the Deputy CEO aims to continue reinforcing the organisation's role as the coordinating entity for enhancing sustainable finance in Luxembourg.
