Arendt Luxembourg has announced having appointed Michèle Eisenhuth and Claude Niedner as Co-Chairs as of 1 April 2023 for a three-year term.
Michèle Eisenhuth and Claude Niedner also chair Arendt’s Strategy Board.
Michèle Eisenhuth is a Partner in the Investment Management practice of Arendt & Medernach and was already a member of the firm’s strategy board. Over her 30 years career at Arendt, she has represented major international asset management groups in their fund structuring and complex reorganisation operations. She defined herself as “a trusted partner for my clients with whom I work hand in hand to find pragmatic solutions to get them out of challenging situations but also to anticipate their business needs”.
Claude Niedner has been a Partner in the Investment Management practice of Arendt & Medernach and Co-Chair of Arendt since 2020. He specialises in investment funds and works in the areas of UCITS and alternative investment funds with a particular focus on regulatory matters and is recognised as a legal expert in Luxembourg investment funds. During his previous term of office, together with Philippe Dupont, he has reportedly carried the group's strategy through some very challenging years in an internationally complex environment.
Jean-Marc Ueberecken has been re-elected Managing Partner. He is responsible for the implementation of the strategy and the management of Arendt. Jean-Marc Ueberecken has been the Managing Partner of Arendt since 2014. According to the Arendt Group, Jean-Marc focuses his leadership on driving innovation in order to continue creating new services, new products and new ways of providing their services to the firm’s clients, which currently employs 1200 professionals.
Claude Niedner commented: “I would like to express my warmest thanks to Philippe Dupont for his unfailing commitment during our joint mandate which included many challenges both on a national and on a global scale. Arendt's unique positioning has enabled us to meet these challenges with flying colours and we have come out of this with confidence in our development strategy […] I am delighted to begin this new mandate with Michèle Eisenhuth, with whom I have had the pleasure of working for over 25 years.”
The group has reported to have accelerated the development of new services in recent years with the integration of market leaders in areas such as managed services, AML/CFT and Forensic Investigations.
Philippe Dupont said: “Last year we reached the 1000 employees’ mark in the group, and this is a very important step in our development. More than a milestone, it is a change of scale. It is time for me to devote myself entirely to our clients and to step down as Co-Chair. I am delighted that our partners have appointed Michèle Eisenhuth to replace me as Co-Chair, I think we couldn't have asked for a better representative; Michèle is both an internationally recognised expert and a partner who is particularly appreciated internally. I am convinced that together with Claude, with whom I had the pleasure of sharing my mandate, she will be able to pursue the vision that the group has set out for the coming years. There are still many challenges ahead, but the team at the head of our group is best placed to meet them.”
Michèle Eisenhuth commented: “I am very honoured to succeed Philippe Dupont. As we reach the firm’s 35th anniversary, we are also reaching a level of maturity that gives our independent group both agility and strength. We all share the common DNA of the firm since its creation in 1988, we are entrepreneurs and because we are like-minded, we can move fast. I am proud to join Claude Niedner as Co-Chair of Arendt, a group that has always made the recognition and development of talent an essential part of its growth. The next three years promise to be exciting, and I intend to devote my energy to infuse our strategy into our partnership of now more than 60 partners, and to take the younger generation to the top. I am convinced that we already have the leaders who will make the Arendt of tomorrow.” The Arendt Group offers legal, advisory and investor services and has been rewarded once again as the "Benelux Law firm of the year 2022” at The Lawyer European Awards on 29 November 2022, in London. According to the Arendt Group, this award was the culmination of a strategy that has been in place for years and they were praised for their “unique offering of legal and related consulting services”, also reportedly impressing the jury with their “strong ESG credentials and commitment to continually evolving and innovating to create a market-leading position”.
