Lucile Barberet Appointed CEO of Nyuko

Luxembourg-based idea challenger nyuko has announced that it is celebrating its fifth anniversary by handing over its reins to Lucile Barberet.

Building on the success of its free support programmes for project leaders wishing to start their own business, nyuko a.s.b.l., which turned five at the end of April, has appointed Lucile Barberet at its head to establish its expertise over the next five years.

In 2018, three years after its creation, the reorientation of the association's services was timely: before launching, the niche of pre-business creation was not covered in Luxembourg. By offering several collective and individual support programs and by collaborating with the Fit4Entrepreneurship programme, nyuko has supported dozens of future entrepreneurs in the construction of their project. By helping them to "challenge" their ideas (the motto of the association), nyuko has forged its know-how as well as many partnerships to better serve project leaders.

The association now aims to deepen and further improve its programmes, without setting aside relevant innovations. In order to achieve this, Nicolas Fries, current CEO of nyuko,  has handed over the reins to Lucile Barberet, who has worked at the association since 2015.

"The last two years, [...] the a.s.b.l. [has gone] from a "beacon" for national startups, oriented towards innovation, to an incubator of ideas, in charge of helping business creators to challenge and advance their project, all sectors combined. Today, it is a question of continuing the deployment of nyuko and making it the main player in supporting business creation in Luxembourg and for this mission, I am convinced that passing the torch to Lucile Barberet is the right choice,” commented Nicolas Fries, who is taking on managerial missions within the Entrepreneurship Department of the Chamber of Commerce. 

Lucile Barberet, who has a master's degree in communication and online journalism, started her career in a Big Four accounting firm before joining nyuko, where she was in charge of communication. Since then, she has taken on several of the association's projects and is notably at the origin of Meet an Entrepreneur, the platform for sharing experiences and expertise around Luxembourg entrepreneurship.

Commenting on her appointment, Lucile Barberet said: "It is with great enthusiasm that I accepted this new mission, despite the current context. I am delighted to have the opportunity to support this great team towards the goals we have set for ourselves!"

Robert Goeres, President of the association, confirmed the shift that has already begun: "Nicolas Fries has done a fantastic job with nyuko and we thank him. Lucile Barberet was the ideal candidate to continue on this great streak. She brings both rigour and creativity and I know she keeps the interest of project leaders at heart in all her actions".
