The Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI) today announced the appointment of Corinne Lamesch as the new Chairperson of ALFI following its annual general meeting (AGM).

The appointment is effective immediately and will run initially for a period of two years. The meeting also saw the election of a new Board of Directors.

Corinne Lamesch has been a member of the ALFI Board of Directors since June 2017 and has actively participated in a number of ALFI Technical Committees and Working Groups. She is a regular speaker at industry events and has been actively participating in conferences and roadshows organised by ALFI in Luxembourg and across the globe.

In addition, Corinne Lamesch is Country Head, Luxembourg and Head of Legal, Europe at Fidelity International and has over 20 years of experience in the Luxembourg fund industry. She joined Fidelity International in 2008 and has also acted as Conducting Officer of Fidelity International’s Luxembourg-based management company since 2015.

Prior to joining Fidelity International, Corinne Lamesch worked as a lawyer for Clifford Chance and Allen & Overy from 1998 to 2008, advising on the Luxembourg and international investment fund industry. She holds two Masters in Law from Université Robert Schuman, Strasbourg and New York University School of Law. She was admitted as a lawyer to the Luxembourg Bar (1999-2008) and to the New York Bar (since 1998).

Commenting on her appointment Corinne Lamesch said: “I feel honoured to have been elected as the new Chairperson of ALFI. The asset management industry in Europe is at a critical juncture where new political and societal trends will bring both challenges and opportunities. Asset managers have a unique opportunity to strongly influence the strategies of companies globally so they are more aligned with the values of our changing society and better connected to the interests of future generations". She added that: "These trends will influence the new ALFI Ambition Paper for 2020-2025 that I will prepare for the start of next year".

Speaking of her immediate priorities for the year ahead, Corinne Lamesch cited sustainable finance opportunities, contributing to the implementation of the pan-European personal pension product (PEPP) and "support[ing] the growth and depth of the alternative investment fund sector with Luxembourg as the leading European jurisdiction for all alternative asset classes”.

Currently, ALFI’s 2020 Ambition Paper, designed and implemented under the four-year chairmanship of Denise Voss, will form the framework of the Chairperson’s work and remains a strong focus.
