Luxembourg trade union ALEBA has announced the appointment of Roberto Mendolia to the position of President for a five-year period.

Elected on the occasion of the ALEBA statutory meeting yesterday evening, Roberto Mendolia has served as Vice-President and Member of the Board of Director and Executive Committee of the union since 2014. 

Described by ALEBA as a convinced trade unionist who is committed to fighting for employees' rights, the multilingual 45-year-old has also been the president of the staff delegation for Clearstream International, where he works as Project Manager, for the past fifteen years. In this role, Roberto Mendolia contributed to negotiations for the latest social plan at Clearstream in December 2018.

When asked about his objective for the next five years, the newly elected President stated: "Relentlessly fighting against all forms of discrimination and social injustice". He added that "implementing the electoral programme of ALEBA (ALEB@2024) which we defended during the social elections last March" and "[defending] the employment and training of employees" remained top priorities for the union.

Roberto Mendolia will be supported in his new role by Laurent Mertz, who was granted a second mandate as General Secretary of ALEBA.
