FEDIL - The Voice of Luxembourg’s Industry today appointed Michèle Detaille as its new president.

Michèle Detaille has succeeded Nicolas Buck as President of the FEDIL. Nicolas Buck's three-year mandate was marked by profound attempts to re-position the federation. This made it possible to clearly define the role of the FEDIL within Luxembourg's employers, to position the federation in relation to the government, to give it new strategic accents and to develop its membership, which grew to reach some 625 members.

The priorities defined during this mandate - talents, digital transformation and the energy transition - reflected the major challenges facing companies today. The FEDIL has confirmed that these priorities will continue to guide the action of federation in 2019 under the leadership of its new president. In fact, the FEDIL will focus on three cross-cutting issues in particular: talent shortage, digitalisation and energy transition. In addition to these three priorities, special attention will also be paid to foreign trade under the chairmanship of Michèle Detaille.

Born in Bastogne in 1957, Michèle Detaille studied political science at the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL). After several years in politics, during which time she worked as a mayor, ministerial advisor and member of parliament in Belgium, she turned to the private sector in 1988 as commercial director of Accor Services Benelux. In 1996, she took over the company No-Nail Boxes which she still runs today and developed the ALIPA group, a set of SMEs active in the field of packaging, industrial logistics and handling. A director of FEDIL since 2005, she is also a director of Luxempart, the UCL and Honorary Regent of the National Bank of Belgium. Her appointment today makes Michèle Detaille the first woman to chair the FEDIL.
