The Grand Ducal Police have reported that on Tuesday 12 January 2026, a pedestrian was seriously injured following a traffic accident in Luxembourg-Ville.
The police said that at around 06:25 on Tuesday they were notified of a road traffic accident involving a car and a pedestrian near Avenue de la Porte Neuve/Boulevard Royal in Luxembourg-Ville.
According to the initial information, the driver intended to turn into Rue des Capucins. However, he inadvertently moved into the bus lane on Boulevard Royal and then against the flow of traffic into a one-way street. In doing so, he failed to see a pedestrian on the pedestrian crossing and struck him.
The pedestrian was seriously injured and, after first aid was provided on site, was taken to hospital.
The police have confirmed that an accident report was drawn up.
