The Indian Business Chamber of Luxembourg (IBCL) has announced the appointment of Himanshu Upadhyay as its new President, taking over from Aditya Sharma.
Himanshu brings a wealth of experience as an expert underwriter and international business manager, having worked across Asia and Europe with leading insurers such as ERGO (Munich Re), AXA, Cigna and Globality (Munich Re). He has successfully led product management and underwriting functions, as well as delivering successful turnarounds, mergers and acquisition integrations.
The IBCL executive leadership extended its "heartfelt gratitude" to Aditya Sharma for his presidency during the COVID-19 period and for his contribution over the years. Aditya will continue in the role of Board Member to facilitate new ideas to foster. This year is particularly significant for IBCL as it celebrates its fifteenth anniversary, focusing on implementing several changes to "drive value creation for its members and enhancing cooperation" between India and Luxembourg.
Sudhir Kohli, IBCL founder and chairperson, stated: "Himanshu has been a visionary architect, experienced and successful professional in developing and growing business throughout his career. I am convinced that his commitment and pioneering efforts will further help in leading the Indian Business Chamber of Luxembourg to greater heights and in promoting and enhancing business development and economic ties between India and Luxembourg."
Aditya Sharma, outgoing President and Board Member, remarked: "Believing in change and empowering younger Board Members are the hallmarks of IBCL governance. After fifteen years of active executive role, I look forward to seeing IBCL moving ahead with innovative ideas to deepen Luxembourg-India relations and to prepare for the upcoming EU India FTA. I extend congratulations to Himanshu Upadhyay on being the next President in such exciting times."

Himanshu holds a B.Sc. with Honours and an MBA in Marketing and International Business. He is fluent in English and Hindi and is currently pursuing studies in the French and Luxembourgish languages. He lives in Luxembourg with his wife and two children.
