Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy, the Ministry for Digitalisation and the Government IT Centre (CTIE) have announced the digitalisation of business permits.

From Thursday 30 May 2024, companies that submit a business permit application via MyGuichet.lu will receive all communications from the Ministry of the Economy online in their professional space.

According to the authorities, this new functionality enables an entirely online exchange between the user and the administration. The business permit service can thus notify companies of modifications or additions to be made to the applications and offer them the possibility of directly downloading their business permit on MyGuichet.lu, once the request is successful.

To benefit from this approach, the user must possess a LuxTrust electronic certificate in order to be able to create a professional space on MyGuichet.lu. The authorities described this as a "highly secure virtual safe" which allows the consultation of personal data provided to administrations, the consultation and storage of files transmitted online, and the consultation of electronic messages transmitted by the administration.

The authorities added that this new online service constitutes a further step towards the dematerialisation of exchanges between the state and businesses, and is expected to avoid at least 15,000 letters being sent by post per year. If a business sends a business permit application by post, however, all communications will be maintained via this route.

Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, stressed that "the digitalisation, simplification and acceleration of administrative procedures, particularly in the creation of businesses, constitutes one of my main priorities. The entirely online exchange between the user and the business permit service marks an important step forward in this context, which allows the Ministry of the Economy to optimise its internal file processing processes."

The new digital communication offer is the result of "close collaboration" between the Ministry of the Economy and the CTIE of the Ministry for Digitalisation.

Luxembourg's Minister for Digitalisation, Stéphanie Obertin, welcomed this collaboration in terms of digital public services for businesses: "The role of the Ministry for Digitalisation and the CTIE is to facilitate the transition to digital exchanges between state entities and the private sector. End-to-end dematerialised flows between the state and businesses will have the direct consequence of automation and increased efficiency in the processing of files. Not to forget great data security given that these flows are made on the secure platform for exchange with the state, MyGuichet.lu."
