On Monday 5 October 2026, the Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF) reported that Luxembourg national team vice-captain Leandro Barreiro will miss the Red Lions’ fourth UEFA Nations League match against Bulgaria after UEFA corrected the attribution of a yellow card from the match against Estonia on Saturday 3 October 2026.
According to the FLF, UEFA informed the federation on Monday morning of the correction concerning a yellow card shown during the match between Estonia and Luxembourg.
Following an intervention by UEFA’s official delegate for the match with the organisation’s disciplinary bodies, the match referee was contacted. After reviewing the match footage again, the referee confirmed an error in his report: the yellow card initially attributed to Marvin Martins, wearing number 22, had in fact been shown to Leandro Barreiro, wearing number 16.
As a result of the correction, Barreiro will be suspended for Luxembourg’s match against Bulgaria at the Stade de Luxembourg on Tuesday 6 October 2026.
After three matches, Jeff Strasser’s team sit third in Group C4 with three points, having recorded one victory and two defeats.
