The BGL Ligue national men's football championship resumes on Sunday 9 February 2025, after a two-month winter break, during which teams paused competition following Matchday 15 in December 2024.
Current champion FC Differdange 03 lead the BGL Ligue standings as the sole frontrunners. Pedro Resende’s team has suffered just one defeat this season - a 0:1 away loss to Racing FC Union Luxembourg in the final match before the winter break. With thirteen wins and one draw, Differdange has accumulated 40 points, maintaining a seven-point lead over their closest rivals.
Notably, Differdange will begin the second half of the season without their top striker, Portuguese centre-forward Jorginho. The 27-year-old, who has scored 11 goals in 13 matches, has transferred to Kazakh side Kairat for €100,000, according to Transfermarkt.com.
Two teams currently share second place in the BGL Ligue standings. Racing Union managed to catch up with F91 Dudelange after securing a victory in Matchday 15, while Dudelange was held to a 1:1 home draw against mid-table side AS La Jeunesse d'Esch/Alzette. Both teams now sit on 33 points.
The following teams are closely grouped in the standings: Swift Hesperange, currently in fourth place with 30 points, just above Progrès Niederkorn (29 points) and UNA Strassen (28 points).
The bottom four teams in the standings ahead of the second half of the season are SC Bettembourg (13 points), FC Rodange 91 (8 points), and the two main relegation contenders, CS Fola Esch (7 points) and Mondercange (4 points).
