On Monday 18 November 2024, Luxembourg's men's football team recovered from a 2-0 deficit at home to Northern Ireland to draw 2-2 in their last UEFA Nations League League C Group 3 match; this follows Friday's 1-0 home defeat to Bulgaria.
Northern Ireland went ahead with a goal by Isaac Price (his sixth for his country) after 19 minutes with a shot into the bottom corner of the net, thanks to an assist by Shea Charles; and five minutes after the restart, they doubled their lead thanks to their second goal, from Conor Bradley, with Price turning provider, but is must go down as a mistake by Luxembourg's goalkeeper Tiago Pereira.
Northern Ireland seemed to be in complete control and wasted another couple of golden chances to put the game beyond the reach of the home side.
Luxembourg then scored two goals in quick succession, Seid Korač (72 mins) assisted by Danel Sinani' free kick and Gerson Rodrigues (75 mins) to level the scores; the second goal came from quick-witted substitute goalkeeper Ralph Schon who spotted an opportunity and sent the ball forward quickly.
Northern Ireland hung on for the draw; with Bulgaria and Belarus drawing 1-1, Northern Ireland topped the group; the draw for the Nations League B/C promotion/relegation play-off will take place in Nyon, Switzerland, on Friday 22 November, with the ties being decided over two legs in late March 2025.
Luxembourg's Red Lions were left bottom of the final table, with a total of three points from their six games, with just three draws and no wins.
