On Thursday 18 July 2024, Luxembourg's men's football teams were back in action, in UEFA club competitions.
Following Wednesday's exit from the UEFA Champions League of Luxembourg's FC Differdange 03 in the first qualifying round against KÍ Klaksvík of the Faroe Islands, it was the turn of both F91 Diddeleng (Dudelange) and FC UNA Strassen, in the UEFA Conference League first qualifying round.
F91 Diddeleng
F91 Diddeleng were up against Atlètic Club Escaldes (Andorra) at home in the 2nd leg at the Stade Jos Nosbaum in Dudelange, having won the first leg away last week thanks to a first-half goal by Bojić.
With the teams evenly balanced at half-time when the score was still 0-0, the game opened up after the home team score a penalty on the hour mark when captain Samir Hadji slotted home a penalty following a foul by defender Chechu Menezes inside the box; nineteen minutes later he doubled the lead and put the tie beyond reach of the opposition when he scored his, and his team's second goal of the match following an assist from Chris Stumpf.
Final score: a 2-0 home win for F91 Diddeleng who go through 3-0 on aggregate.
The referee, Kadir Sağlam from Turkey, booked five players during the match, with just two from the home team.
In the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League second qualifying round, F91 Diddeleng will play against BK Häcken of Sweden, with the first leg in Luxembourg on Wednesday 24 July at 19:00 and the return leg on Wednesday 31 July.

FC UNA Strassen
And in the other match on Thursday evening, FC UNA Strassen played their 2nd leg away to KuPS Kuopio (Finland), having drawn the first leg 0-0 at home last week.
They were thumped 5-0 thanks to two first-half goals by Ruoppi, with Vidjeskog, Diawara and Heinonen andding three more after the break.
Refereed by Ian McNabb from Northern Ireland, FC UNA Strassen had nine shots on goal, with the home team thirteen.

FC Progrès Niederkorn
In addition to F91 Diddeleng through to the UEFA Conference League second qualifying round, they will be also joined by FC Progrès Niederkorn who had a bye in the first qualifying round and have been drawn against Djurgården, also of Sweden, with the first leg to be played in Luxembourg on Thursday 25 July at 19:00 and the return leg on Thursday 1 August.
