On Thursday 9 November 2023, Women in Asset Servicing (WiAS) announced the inauguration of its new chapter in Luxembourg as part of the network’s fifth-anniversary celebration.
The launch of the Luxembourg chapter will feature a series of micro-events, crafted to facilitate new member engagement, and aiming to establish their networks and contribute to the organic growth of WiAS in the country. Interested individuals can now register for the Luxembourg dedicated mailing list to receive updates on upcoming events and opportunities.
The decision to expand WiAS to Luxembourg stemmed from the network’s popularity in the UK and its increasing influence in the sector. Recognising the value, some existing members based in Luxembourg advocated for the establishment of the network's first overseas chapter, WiAS noted. This expansion is envisioned to broaden the reach of WiAS, allowing it to extend its advocacy and support programmes to a more diverse audience and set the stage for future expansion.
WiAS seeks to provide women with opportunities for advancement in their careers, aiming for leadership roles traditionally dominated by men. The network's networking programme aims to empower its one thousand members to cultivate peer connections, expand their professional horizons, foster knowledge exchange and promote the principles of WiAS across the financial services industry. The network emphasises three key pillars for success: empowerment, networking and visibility, which they strive to achieve through a blend of events, networking initiatives and tailored mentoring programmes.
Kate Webber, the founder of Women in Asset Servicing, said: “We are delighted by the launch of WiAS in Luxembourg. The network has had a highly successful five years, growing in membership and active engagement across our industry here in the UK. WiAS in Luxembourg will enable our team to bring the benefits of both virtual and in-person events, tailored to the needs and opportunities of the market in Luxembourg, creating a network within a network. I wish the Luxembourg team every success, they will be fantastic”.
