The European Commission has confirmed receipt of a first payment request from Luxembourg for €25.98 million in grants under the Recovery and Resilience Facility.

Luxembourg's first payment request covers milestones and targets related to reforms in the areas of skills, climate, health and anti-money laundering. It also includes investments, for example in the areas of skills and digitalisation.

Luxembourg's comprehensive recovery and resilience plan will be funded with €82.7 million in grants. Payments under the Recovery and Resilience Facility are performance-based and conditional on Luxembourg implementing the investments and reforms outlined in its recovery and resilience plan.

The Commission will now assess the request before forwarding its preliminary assessment of Luxembourg's compliance with the milestones and targets required for this payment to the Economic and Financial Committee of the Council of the European Union (EU).

The Recovery and Resilience Facility is the key instrument at the heart of the NextGenerationEU economic recovery package, which aims to support EU member states as they recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
