Drama; 86 mins; 12+

Screened on Tuesday 11 March 2025 within the Luxembourg City Film Festival, in collaboration with the British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg, this Luxembourg-England-Netherlands-German co-production by Deal Productions was filmed predominately in and around Vianden in the north of Luxembourg.

Lucas (Tim Roth) and Edith (Trine Dyrholm), formerly husband and wife, meet up for the first time in ten years, at the graveyard where their son, their only child, is buried.

Based on the play by Lot Vekemans, Poison is a powerful drama which explores grief and how it can affect relationships. Its strong script enables both actors to showcase their substantial talents with the intense dialogue which sees them both reconcile, reflecting on their previous intimate relationship, and opening deep wounds, seeing simmering pain and resentment rise to the surface, as they talk in the graveyard, in his car and walking through the forests.

The screening was preceded by a Homage to Tim Roth and was followed by a Q&A including the two lead actors, the director and the screenwriter.

Poison goes on general release in Luxembourg from next Wednesday 19 March 2025.
