Action; 136 mins; 16+

Set in Los Angeles in the present, it follows primarily the story of Will Sharp (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a former US Marine who is currently between jobs. He lives in a suburban house with his wife and baby who needs to have experimental medical treatment that costs over $100,000. He approaches his brother Danny Sharp (Jake Gyllenhaal) - Danny's parents adopted Will when he was young and the two boys grew up together as close friends - to borrow money for the treatment.

Danny has been known to law enforcement as a bank robber who took after his own father, except that Danny seems to be more ruthless. Even though Will does not want to get caught up in anything illegal, he is pressured by Danny to come along on a bank heist that he is planning that day. Needless to say, things do not go according to plan and the two of them end up hijacking an ambulance along with paramedic Cam Thompson (Eiza González) who is treating shot police Officer Zach (Jackson White).

There follows an almighty car chase through the streets of LA as they are pursued by Captain Monroe (Garret Dillahunt) and police officers in patrol cars, unmarked cars, armoured cars, helicopters and snipers. With visions of the Blues Brothers films in which dozens, if not hundreds, of cars and other vehicles get destroyed in the ensuing melée - but without the comedic overtones, etc. - the action is taut and tense throughout, all helped with a pulsating soundtrack. A thriller of sorts, but really an extended car chase padded with relatively interesting back-stories of the main characters which adds to the audience being able to resonate with them.
