On 26 and 27 October 2015, the Abbaye de Neimënster hosted the annual meeting of the European Film Agency Research Network group, a department of European agencies gathering directors of film bodies.
EFARN, created in 2003 on the initiative of the UK Film Council, aims to collect and exchange common and practical information about pan-European audiovisual productions with a view to improving the availability of data and creating joint projects. The network assembles researchers actively involved in the collection, analysis and publication of data on the European film industry, representing a total 45 different bodies in this domain.
The group, which opens membership to all European film agencies and other public bodies in the European Audiovisual Observatory, meets once a year to discuss various topics. One or more speakers are usually in attendance to provide information on specific topics. The meetings are hosted by one of the participating agencies, with the 2015 edition held by the Lëtzebuerger Filmfond (FFL) in the Grand Duchy.
Guy Daleiden, FFL Director and Vice President of the association of EFADs, opened the seminar with a presentation of the audiovisual production sector in Luxembourg. He emphasised the importance of using reliable data and its exchange between European film agencies, stating "This allows greater transparency and greater effectiveness in our networking action".
The meeting followed the recent EP2C workshop on post-production, which was held by Film Fund Luxembourg last week.
