On Wednesday 5 August 2026, online marketplace Temu announced partnerships with Luxembourg-based producer responsibility organisations Ecotrel and Ecobatterien to help sellers on its platform comply with local environmental regulations.
According to Temu, the cooperation will support sellers in meeting their extended producer responsibility (EPR) obligations for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and batteries placed on the Luxembourg market. This includes assistance with registration, reporting and participation in local collection, treatment and recycling systems.
The company said the partnerships operate under a "pay-on-behalf" model, through which Temu facilitates seller registrations, declarations and producer responsibility fee payments for participating sellers, providing “a more streamlined way” to access EPR compliance services in Luxembourg.
Temu added that consumers can find information on WEEE and battery collection points operated by Ecotrel and Ecobatterien via the organisations' respective websites. The company noted that it has now established partnerships with more than 60 authorised producer responsibility organisations across the European Union.
