On Monday 16 February 2026, Luxembourg’s Ministry of the Economy announced the launch of a €10 million call for projects aimed at supporting the acquisition of zero-emission heavy commercial vehicles.

According to the ministry, this new scheme represents an important step in supporting companies in the decarbonisation of their commercial vehicle fleets by offering financial aid of up to 100% of eligible costs, corresponding to the difference between a zero-emission vehicle and a comparable vehicle equipped with a combustion engine.

The call for projects has a maximum budget of €10 million, divided equally between category N2 vehicles, intended for the transport of goods with a maximum mass exceeding three and a half tonnes but not exceeding twelve tonnes, and category N3 vehicles with a mass exceeding twelve tonnes. It thus covers small and medium trucks from three and a half to twelve tonnes, as well as heavy trucks and road tractors over twelve tonnes, targeting all heavy commercial vehicles used for goods transport.

The call for projects will be open from Monday 16 February to Thursday 30 April 2026. According to the ministry, it has been designed to allow companies full technological freedom in their investment choices and is technologically neutral, covering fully electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and vehicles powered by hydrogen combustion engines. The conversion of conventional internal combustion engine vehicles into zero-emission vehicles is also eligible.

Luxembourg’s Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, stated: “This first call for projects represents an important step in supporting the energy transition of the transport sector. By facilitating the acquisition of zero-emission heavy commercial vehicles, we are helping companies to sustainably reduce their carbon footprint while strengthening their competitiveness.” Companies of all sizes are invited to submit their projects via MyGuichet.lu from Monday 16 February 2026. The detailed specifications outlining all participation conditions are available on Guichet.lu.

In addition, the law of 8 December 2025 provides for an aid scheme available upon simple application for SMEs, with a maximum aid intensity of 60% for small enterprises and 50% for medium-sized enterprises. The aid is limited to five vehicles per company and capped at €300,000. Full details are available on Guichet.lu.

The ministry also launched, on Thursday 15 January 2026, a separate call for projects targeting, in particular, charging infrastructure dedicated to heavy commercial vehicles. Selected companies may receive a subsidy covering up to 70% of their investment. This integrated approach is intended to support both the acquisition of zero-emission vehicles and the deployment of the necessary charging infrastructure.
