Luxembourg’s Minister of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes, has just signed the order authorising the Bascharage bypass project, part of a wide-ranging project to help facilitate traffic flow in the area around Bascharage and Sanem.

Luxembourg’s Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity noted that this decree sets out in particular the development and operating conditions relating to the human and natural environment, as well as the required compensation and mitigation measures.

At the same time, two public inquiries will soon be launched. These investigations concern two protected area projects linked to the future bypass, namely the project to designate the Natura 2000 zone “Sanem – Groussebësch/Schouweiler – Bitschenheck” as well as the project to designate the wetland “Dreckwiss”, the ministry noted.
